Some of your details you can change yourself in a minute. One of them — the address your association mails letters to — you cannot, and that is the one that causes the most trouble.

Detail Who changes it
Your name as it appears on your login Your association
Your phone number You
The address your association mails to Your association
The email address you sign in with Your association
The names on the property record Your association
Who else at your household gets notices Your association

Changing what you can change yourself

  1. Sign in, select your name, then Profile.
  2. Select Update beside Phone Number, type the new number, then select Save.
  3. Close Profile by selecting anywhere outside it.

To change the email address you sign in with, contact your association.

The mailing address is different, and here is why

The address on your profile page shows the address of your property. It is not a separate "where to mail my letters" field you can edit, and there is no working way to change a mailing address from your own profile today.

That is not an oversight in your account — it is how the record works. Your association's records are the legal record of who owns what. The address they mail to is part of that record, is used for notices that may have deadlines attached, and is maintained by the association, not by each owner.

So if you have moved, or you want mail going somewhere other than the property, tell your association. A short message with your name, your unit, and the new address is all it takes. Ask them to confirm when it is done, and keep the reply.

If you have moved and letters are still going to the old address

Two things need to happen:

  1. Tell your association the new address, as above. Until they update it, letters will keep going where they have always gone.
  2. Ask them to update your email address too if that has changed, so anything sent electronically reaches you while the mail catches up.

Do this before you need it. The most common version of this problem is an owner who learns about a fine, a deadline or an assessment after the date, because the notice went to an address they left two years ago. If you have received something from your association late, say so when you reply — see I got a violation notice. What happens now? for what to do about a deadline that has already passed.

Do I get notices by mail or by email?

Your association decides whether its formal notices come by mail or by email. That choice may depend on whether you have given them written permission to use email, and in some places is governed by state law rather than by preference.

If you would rather receive things by email, ask your association directly and ask what they need from you.

If you cannot sign in

You may never have activated your account. An account exists on your association's records, but the portal side of it has to be switched on before you can use it.

  • If you have an activation or invitation email, use the link in it.
  • If you do not, or the link no longer works, contact your association and confirm the email address they hold for you. If that address is wrong, this is exactly the problem — tell them the right one.
  • If you are not sure a message asking you to sign in is genuine, do not use the links in it. Go to your association or manager using contact details you already had.

Who to ask

Your association's manager holds the records. Roam is the software they use; Roam cannot change your address, your name, or your account on your association's behalf, and contacting Roam instead of your association will only add a step.

If you do not know who your manager is, their contact details are on the letters, statements, and notices you have received.
